Hi Sophea!

Sorry I took a couple of days to answer your message!  I was busy this weekend!

We adopted Dexter from Adopt-A-Dog, which rescued Dexter from a dog pound in Fayetteville, West Virginia, where he was a homeless dog.  We adopted Dexter on May 7, 2017, when he was two years old.  And that’s why we say May 7 is Dexter’s “birthday” because that’s the day we adopted him.  We don’t know his real birthday.  All we know is he was born sometime in 2015 somewhere in or around Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Adopt-A-Dog rescued a bunch of other dogs along with Dexter from the dog pound in West Virginia, so when we went to look for a dog to adopt that day, there were a lot of other dogs available for adoption.  All the dogs were barking and barking in their cages, but Dexter was just sitting in his cage, very quiet.  He actually looked very sad.  But I liked his brown and white fur and his nice face, so I asked if we could see him.  When he came out to meet us, he sat right next to me, and I rubbed his ears.  He loved that!  And he seemed like such a kind and gentle dog that just needed a nice home.

So we took him home that day, and we’ve loved him ever since!

Dexter had a wonderful day today!  It was nice and warm, so he was able to go out the backyard in the sunshine.  Dexter also hung out with Speedy the tortoise on the front porch!  I hope you had a great day, too!

Hi Angeli!

Great to hear from you!  Dexter and I had so much fun at your school! Right now, Dexter is doing one of his favorite things – he’s relaxing in his bed on our enclosed porch and looking out the front door at everyone walking by in the neighborhood, just like in his book “Mr. Dexter’s Neighborhood.”

We just came back from a short walk down at Cove Beach.  It was a bit chilly and windy down there, but Dexter loved it!  We were planning on going for a longer walk at Cove, but it looked like it might rain, so I didn’t want Dexter to get caught in the rain.  When we got home, he got his morning doggie treats, and now he’s very happy on the porch!

I love Dexter so much he kept coming up to me every single time to see me I was so glad you came to our school I really appreciate you coming and I sorry that sparky died but my dog rainbow is so sad to hear about that But today was the best day ever I had today, I hope you come back soon!!!

Thanks so much for inviting us over the years!  We’ve always had so much fun in your class, especially this year.  Your kids were wonderful!  Dexter loved hanging out with them.  And, yes, he is a good boy.  We stopped at my friend’s coffee shop in Norwalk on the way home, and Dexy enjoyed some of my scone and biscotti!
